MTN Nigeria's Global Graduate Development Programme 2027 is open, and applications close on Friday, 6 November 2026. To qualify you must be a Nigerian citizen with at least a Second Class Upper (2:1) or HND Upper Credit earned in 2024 or later, have completed NYSC in September 2026 with a valid certificate, speak fluent English and hold a valid international passport. You apply free of charge on MTN's official graduate recruitment platform, Leaply. The Nigeria listing shows five positions, so expect stiff competition.
This guide explains who can apply, what the programme involves, how to submit a strong application before the deadline, and how to avoid fake "MTN recruitment" adverts.

Who can apply? Eligibility requirements
The official listing sets these minimum requirements:
Nigerian citizenship. MTN states that all applicants must be Nigerian citizens.
Degree class. A minimum of Second Class Upper Division (2:1) for university graduates, or Upper Credit for HND holders.
Graduation year. You must have graduated no earlier than 2024.
NYSC. You must have completed the National Youth Service Corps in September 2026 and hold a valid certificate. Proof is required.
English. You must be fluent in English.
International passport. You must already hold a valid international passport.
Two points worth noting. First, the official wording says NYSC completed in September 2026, not "by" September 2026, which suggests MTN is targeting the most recent set of corps members to pass out. If you passed out at a different time, read the requirement carefully before you apply. Second, the Nigeria listing does not state an age limit or a list of preferred courses, so graduates from a wide range of disciplines can apply if they meet the grade and NYSC rules.
Is a passport really required?
Yes. A valid international passport is listed as a firm requirement. The programme includes training at MTN regional learning centres and offers international exchange or secondment opportunities, which explains why. If your passport is expired, start the renewal through the Nigeria Immigration Service now, because you may be asked for it during screening.
Skills MTN is looking for
Meeting the minimum requirements gets you through the door. To stand out, your CV and answers should show evidence of the skills MTN lists:
Partnership and business development
Digital marketing
Strong numeracy and analytical skills
Technology security awareness
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong research ability
Keeping up with technology and economic trends
Relationship-building and teamwork
Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
The listing also names MTN's values (Lead with Care, Can-do with Integrity, Collaborate with Agility, Serve with Respect and Act with Inclusion), so it helps to prepare examples from school, NYSC or work that show these in practice.
What the programme offers
According to MTN, the Global Graduate Development Programme recruits top graduates from across its markets in Africa and the Middle East and fast-tracks them into critical roles. It has two parts:
Formal learning through the MTN Academy, including modules at MTN's three regional learning centres in Southern, Northern and Western Africa, delivered through blended and digital learning.
On-the-job development through full-time employment at MTN Nigeria, placement in a role aligned to company strategy, job rotation, mentoring, coaching and exposure to executive committees.
The key offerings listed are structured training, structured personal development, mentorship, community development and an international exchange or secondment opportunity. MTN has not published the salary or the exact length of the programme, so treat any figure you see on social media with caution.

Tips to strengthen your application
Tailor your CV to the skills list. If you ran a social media page for a campus group, led a CDS project during NYSC or built a simple app, say so with numbers where possible. See our CV format guide for layout tips.
Show interest in technology and fintech. MTN is a telecoms and digital services company, so awareness of data, mobile money and digital trends will help in interviews.
Prepare your personal pitch. Practise a short answer to "Tell me about yourself" using our interview answer guide.
Apply early. Portals often slow down close to the deadline.
Have a plan B. With only five positions shown, also look at other graduate trainee programmes in Nigeria and bank jobs for fresh graduates.
Beware of fake MTN recruitment adverts
Every graduate intake attracts fake "MTN recruitment" pages, WhatsApp messages and agents promising guaranteed slots. Protect yourself:
MTN does not ask for any payment to apply. Never pay an "application", "processing" or "form" fee.
Only apply through the Leaply link on mtn.com. Ignore forms on random blogs, Google Forms and WhatsApp links.
Do not send your passport, BVN or bank details to anyone who contacts you privately claiming to be from MTN.
If a message promises a job in exchange for money, it is a scam.
