The Academic Dean supervises teachers, conducts observations, handles performance reviews, and organizes professional development. This position also collaborates closely with the Student Support team to align interventions, manages academic data, and acts as the primary contact for curriculum alignment. Responsibilities
- Supervise instructional staff directly by holding weekly one-on-one coaching sessions and setting goals
- Observe live instruction and office hours bi-weekly to provide actionable feedback
- Manage recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance reviews for new teachers
- Administer the school student conduct, truancy, and academic integrity procedures
- Coordinate Ohio state assessments, testing logistics, proctoring, and test security
- Analyze school-level data regarding academic performance, attendance, and student engagement
- Design and lead regular professional development sessions for the instructional team
- Serve as the main liaison between teachers and the content team regarding curriculum platforms
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- At least 3 years of teaching experience
- At least 2 years of experience in an educational leadership role such as department chair, instructional coach, dean, or assistant principal
- Experience working in virtual school environments or teaching online
- Experience supervising staff and conducting performance evaluations
- Ohio residency
Qualifications
- Master's degree in education, educational leadership, or a related field
- Valid Ohio teaching license and/or administrator license, or the ability to obtain one
- Experience administering or coordinating standardized testing and handling assessment data
- Experience serving as part of a founding team for a new school
