Job Description
Salla is looking for an Accountant to support its logistics and shipping activity within the Finance team. As the shipping business grows, this person keeps the books accurate and reconciled for logistics revenue, costs, billing, collections, merchant payments and financial controls.
On the revenue side, the accountant works out logistics income, matches it against issued invoices, manages deferred revenue under IFRS and investigates swings in revenue, cost, volume and margin. On the cost side, the role checks vendor and partner invoices against operational records such as AWB details and shipping rates, records cost of goods sold and direct shipping charges, flags revenue leakage and overcharges, and makes sure partners are paid promptly. Reporting includes periodic reconciliations, billing and margin analysis, month-end close support and audit-ready files.
A four-year degree in accounting or finance, or a similar discipline, is needed, at least three years of accounting or finance work (ideally in logistics, shipping or e-commerce), working knowledge of IFRS, advanced spreadsheet skills and experience with ERP or accounting software. Professional Arabic and English are needed. Power BI or SQL experience is a bonus.
Responsibilities
- Calculate logistics income and track performance metrics
- Match booked revenue to issued invoices and clear any gaps
- Track deferred revenue under IFRS
- Reconcile vendor and partner invoices against operational records and shipping rates
- Post cost of goods sold and direct shipping cost entries
- Spot revenue leakage, overcharges and pricing errors
- Prepare reconciliations for logistics transactions, gateways and clearing accounts
- Support month-end close and variance analysis for the shipping business
- Coordinate with the Operations, Product and Account Management groups to clear pending requests and unmapped entries
- Suggest workflow improvements
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance, or a similar discipline
- Three or more years in accounting or finance, ideally in logistics, shipping or e-commerce
- Practical work in revenue and cost accounting, matching vendor invoices, and COGS
- Experience supporting month-end close, variance analysis and reporting
- Practical grounding in IFRS: revenue recognition, accruals and deferred income
- Grasp of shipping transactions, vendor billing and margin analysis
- Advanced Excel and experience with ERP or accounting systems
- Professional Arabic and English, with ability to adjust to changing processes
Qualifications
- Power BI, SQL or similar analytics tools
- Sharp analytical skill for catching discrepancies in high-volume data
