AI & Automation Developer
Microsoft Copilot Studio | Power Automate | Microsoft Teams
Location: Remote | Must be available during Eastern Time business hours
Schedule: Full-time
Base Salary: $90,000–$100,000, commensurate with experience
Work Authorization: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
About the Opportunity
Professional Physical Therapy is seeking an AI & Automation Developer to build practical tools that simplify everyday work across our clinics and corporate teams.
In this role, you will develop conversational agents, automate repetitive processes, and connect employees with the information and systems they need through Microsoft Teams. You’ll work closely with our technology leadership and business partners to turn operational challenges into reliable, easy-to-use solutions.
Your primary focus will be Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Automate, and integrations with internal systems. You will also use Microsoft SQL Server to support those solutions, with opportunities to deepen your technical skills through mentorship and hands-on development.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys asking, “Could we make this easier?”—and then building the solution.
What You’ll Do
- Build conversational agents: Design, develop, test, and maintain Microsoft Copilot Studio agents that help employees find information, submit requests, and complete routine tasks through Microsoft Teams.
- Automate business processes: Create Power Automate workflows that reduce manual data entry, repetitive support tickets, and administrative work.
- Connect systems and data: Use APIs, connectors, and SQL Server to exchange information between agents, workflows, and business applications.
- Improve access to knowledge: Configure agents to retrieve information from approved internal sources and provide relevant, grounded responses.
- Build reliable workflows: Incorporate data validation, duplicate checks, conditional logic, approval steps, and escalation paths so requests are handled accurately.
- Identify opportunities: Partner with technology, operations, compliance, and other teams to understand their processes and prioritize useful automation projects.
- Support secure implementation: Apply appropriate permissions, access controls, and human review when solutions interact with sensitive information or update business records.
- Own solutions beyond launch: Troubleshoot issues, maintain documentation, help employees adopt new tools, and improve solutions based on feedback and performance.
- Measure results: Track outcomes such as time saved, fewer support requests, improved data accuracy, and employee adoption.
What You’ll Bring
- Hands-on experience building an agent in Microsoft Copilot Studio, with the ability to explain what you built, how it works, and the problem it solves.
- Experience creating workflows in Microsoft Power Automate, including triggers, conditions, connectors, and error handling.
- Experience publishing or integrating agents and workflows within Microsoft Teams.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL, including queries, joins, table relationships, and basic database normalization.
- Familiarity with APIs, JSON, and connecting applications or data sources.
- An understanding of how to validate information, prevent duplicate records, and handle exceptions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate a business request into a clear technical approach.
- Curiosity, initiative, clear communication, and an interest in learning new tools.
We value demonstrated ability over a fixed number of years of experience. Relevant work completed through employment, internships, academic projects, or independent development is welcome.
Nice to Have
- Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), prompt design, and evaluating the accuracy of AI-generated responses.
- Familiarity with SharePoint, Power Apps, Dataverse, or Microsoft Graph.
- Experience working in a healthcare setting is preferred, particularly with healthcare systems, workflows, and HIPAA requirements.
- Exposure to C#/.NET, Python, MySQL, or SQL Server Reporting Services.
- Experience supporting solutions used by employees in a production environment.
