Job Description
AST SpaceMobile constructs the inaugural space-based cellular broadband network designed to connect standard mobile phones directly without modifications, addressing connectivity gaps for billions of users worldwide. The company seeks an AI SaaS Product Manager to oversee released applications created in-house by the AI and Autonomy division. This professional acts as the bridge between development engineers, corporate IT support, and internal users including satellite operators, manufacturing teams, and executives.
This is a hands-on, writing-centric position suited for an individual capable of documenting machine learning systems accurately while focusing heavily on user adoption and minimizing support requests. The role involves managing the product lifecycle post-launch, coordinating operational transition strategies with the Chief of AI and Autonomy, and establishing robust self-service resources and IT runbooks.
Candidates must navigate agile engineering environments and collaborate with diverse technical and operational groups. Employment operates on an at-will basis with equal opportunity principles. The posting does not state compensation details or standard work hours.
Responsibilities
- Manage post-launch lifecycles for released AI applications by prioritizing fixes, updates, and retirements using usage data and user feedback
- Collaborate daily with full-stack, data science, and machine learning teams to translate user needs into actionable user stories and acceptance requirements
- Conduct structured discovery sessions with internal teams like quality inspectors, analysts, and manufacturing engineers through interviews and floor-side observation
- Define and monitor success metrics such as active usage, feature engagement, support volume, and user satisfaction for each application
- Enforce release readiness standards by ensuring every deployment includes release notes, known issues, documentation, and a support plan
- Produce and maintain end-user guides, workflow walkthroughs, administrator manuals, and versioned release notes
- Design in-app support elements including onboarding tours, contextual help, and readable error messages
- Build a self-help troubleshooting library mapping common failure modes and error codes to step-by-step resolution paths
- Partner with Corporate IT to establish tiering, escalation paths, runbooks, and help desk training prior to application launches
- Act as an escalation contact for unresolved technical issues, coordinating permanent fixes with engineering and closing loops with users
- Assist in executing transition roadmaps to shift application support responsibilities from engineering to steady-state operations and NOC teams
- Analyze support tickets and self-service trends to uncover recurring failures and feed documentation or UX improvements
- Coordinate enablement activities such as launch communications, training workshops, and office hours for new releases
Requirements
- Three to five years of product management experience
- At least one year of experience owning software currently in production and used daily in enterprise SaaS, internal platforms, or B2B products
- Demonstrated personal ownership of product documentation including user guides, help content, and release notes
- Experience building or managing self-service support models, knowledge bases, and escalation metrics
- Working fluency with AI and machine learning products to discuss inference, latency, confidence scores, and model behaviors
- Experience partnering with IT or help desk teams regarding user onboarding, permissions, and support workflows
- Experience contributing to operational transitions moving applications from build teams to NOC, SRE, or managed operations functions
- Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in product data and SQL or equivalent tooling
- Experience working in agile engineering environments with distributed teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in a technical, business, or communications discipline or equivalent experience
- Experience documenting or supporting conversational AI, LLM, RAG, or computer vision features
- Background in technical writing, developer documentation, or docs-as-code workflows using Markdown, Git, or static site generators
- Familiarity with knowledge base and service platforms like Confluence, Notion, Zendesk, Jira Service Management, or ServiceNow
- Familiarity with in-app guidance tools such as Pendo, Appcues, or WalkMe
- Familiarity with product analytics tools including Amplitude, Mixpanel, or PostHog
- Familiarity with IT service management practices and observability tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or Datadog
- Experience with factory operational-technology networks, data center operations, or GPU compute environments
- Experience supporting manufacturing, operational, or field users where downtime carries high costs
- Experience turning internally built tools into enterprise-wide adopted products
- Familiarity with partner-facing or multi-tenant products featuring white-label documentation
- Background in aerospace, defense, satellite communications, or telecommunications
