Job Description
Elastic is hiring an Analytics Engineer to build and run data pipelines for its HR function. The listing gives the location as the United States and marks the role as on-site. The position is full-time and reports directly into the Director of HR Analytics. The engineer will set up HR pipelines and dbt models on a Google Cloud, BigQuery and dbt stack that a central data platform team provisions, and will work alongside a data scientist.
Recruiting reporting is the first production use case. The person hired will automate recurring recruiting reports, look for hiring pipeline bottlenecks and efficiency problems, and set up validation checks so that recruiting data agrees across systems. The broader aim is to move HR away from manual, one-off reporting and toward self-service dashboards that give senior leaders decision-ready answers.
The role suits a hands-on builder with at least two years of Google Cloud pipeline experience, skill in SQL and Python, and direct experience pulling and structuring data from an HR system or applicant tracking tool such as Workday or Greenhouse. Dashboard-only reporting work does not meet the requirement. The posting also asks for storytelling skills for executive audiences and an interest in AI-driven analytics tools. A salary figure is not given.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain BigQuery and dbt pipelines that connect HR data from Workday, Greenhouse, Qualtrics and ServiceNow across the employee lifecycle
- Help enhance an AI-powered analytics experience and build self-service dashboards that reduce one-off data requests
- Introduce access controls, validation and documentation for confidential HR and pay-related data
- Automate recurring recruiting reports and monitor recruiting data for anomalies
- Help the wider HR team build data skills as it shifts to self-service reporting
Requirements
- 2+ years building and maintaining data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform
- Proficiency in SQL and Python
- Has worked with HR or applicant tracking data from a system such as Workday or Greenhouse, pulling and structuring it through reports or APIs
- Hands-on experience building custom dashboards with a BI tool such as Looker or Tableau, or a code-based tool such as Streamlit or Plotly
Qualifications
- Wide familiarity with HR programs and measures over the full employee lifecycle, recruiting included
- Storytelling and presentation skills for executive and non-technical audiences
- Comfort working across regions and time zones
- A view on AI and LLM-based analytics tools, with direct implementation experience a plus
- A builder mindset for setting up structure and routines where little scaffolding exists
Core Skills

- Flexible work locations and schedules in many roles
- Generous annual vacation allowance

- Up to 40 hours a year for volunteer projects
