Liftoff, a performance marketing platform operating within the mobile app economy, is seeking an Application Security Engineer, Generative AI to join its security group. The organization provides technology that helps app marketers acquire and retain users while assisting publishers in maximizing revenue across thousands of mobile businesses globally. In this individual contributor position reporting to the Director of Security, you will head application security for Generative AI, Creative GenAI, and emerging business units. This role suits professionals who want to approach security through a software engineering lens, scaling impact via automation and custom tooling.
Your daily duties will involve establishing secure development standards, conducting threat modeling and code reviews, and designing sandboxes. You will also evaluate third-party tools and AI services, manage vulnerability triage and remediation, and share an on-call rotation with incident-response duties. The position allows for full-time remote work across designated regions in the United States and Canada.
Liftoff provides a fast-paced and innovative atmosphere supporting professional development. Compensation for this role includes a base salary range of USD 184,000 to 250,000 per year depending on geographic location, alongside bonus opportunities, equity, medical coverage, and wellness stipends.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement secure software development standards and integrate security into engineering design phases
- Establish self-service tools, review workflows, and secure design patterns for engineering teams
- Perform code reviews, security assessments, threat modeling, and sandbox isolation for Generative AI initiatives
- Triage incoming security findings, prioritize vulnerabilities according to risk, and guide teams through remediation
- Assess vendor products and AI tools to guarantee secure usage by employees
- Participate in the security team on-call and incident-response rotation, including off-hours response
- Conduct blameless post-incident reviews and document findings
- Build maintainable automation tools, such as an AI-assisted code-security triage pilot
- Collaborate with the Detection and Response group to translate application risks into detection improvements
- Contribute across cloud and infrastructure security priorities as needed
Requirements
- Five or more years of background in software engineering or security engineering
- Capacity to write production-quality code for security automation, review pull requests, and analyze unfamiliar codebases
- Solid grasp of application and API security, secure software design, authentication, authorization, and threat modeling
- Familiarity with evaluating cloud and infrastructure security
- Experience in technical writing for design proposals, runbooks, and post-incident reviews
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and off-hours incident response
Qualifications
- Background working with languages such as Go, Python, Clojure, or JavaScript
- Experience securing Generative AI applications, setting up sandboxes, or assessing AI-driven security utilities
- Familiarity with scaling cloud security or collaborating with high-velocity software engineering teams and high-volume SaaS environments
