InMobi is seeking an Applied Scientist III to join its algorithmic and research science team in Bengaluru. In this full-time role, the professional will tackle mathematically rigorous, research-driven challenges at production scale, working on traffic shaping, ad quality, pricing strategies, auction theory, and fraud detection. The position bridges theory and application by designing algorithms that combine modeling with measurable business results.
This role suits individuals who enjoy formulating hypotheses, evaluating assumptions, and bringing models to life in production environments rather than simply applying existing tools. Candidates will handle tasks with no off-the-shelf solutions, utilizing deep learning models and classical machine learning techniques. Professionals will collaborate with product and engineering teams to deploy models, run rapid experiments, and analyze long-term algorithmic dynamics within multi-agent systems.
Responsibilities
- Formulate, analyze, and implement algorithms for real-time auctions, dynamic pricing, bid shaping, pacing, and traffic allocation
- Design and experiment with methods in online learning, reinforcement learning, multi-armed bandits, forecasting, game theory, and Bayesian modeling
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deploy models in production and run real-world experiments
- Participate in scientific design reviews to help raise the methodological standards of the team
- Contribute to the scientific community by publishing research, leading internal seminars, and keeping up with advances in machine learning and statistics
- Evaluate the long-term dynamics of deployed algorithms, accounting for feedback loops and multi-agent incentives
- Translate business challenges into research questions and propose novel methodologies
- Convert mathematical ideas into high-performance algorithms that operate at scale in production
Requirements
- 4 to 7 years of experience working on algorithmic or applied research problems, including significant production deployment experience
- Deep grounding in statistical learning theory, mathematical optimization, discrete algorithms, probability theory, information theory, causal inference, decision theory, game theory, auction theory, online learning, bandits, reinforcement learning, or Bayesian methods
- Proficiency in scientific computing using Python, including libraries like NumPy, SciPy, PyTorch, or TensorFlow
- Experience working with big data platforms, distributed computing, and large-scale datasets
- Demonstrated ability to take ideas from conception to production with end-to-end ownership
- A rigorous validation mindset and thoughtful approach to underlying assumptions
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Physics, or a related quantitative discipline
- Strong publication record in venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, AISTATS, KDD, UAI, WSDM, EC, SODA, or COLT
- Prior experience in ad tech, marketplaces, or dynamic pricing
