VacancyMail is seeking an Architect to join the team in Harare and Matabeleland North. This full-time position involves creating and coordinating building designs as well as construction documents for mining facilities, office spaces, housing, workshops, and related infrastructure. The role suits an imaginative and technically skilled professional who can transform operational requirements and project briefs into safe, functional, economical, and resilient designs. Key duties include aligning architectural plans with various engineering disciplines, handling regulatory submissions, reviewing contractor proposals, and performing site inspections. Candidates must also be ready to travel to or work at a remote mining site when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Draft architectural layouts, plans, concepts, elevations, construction specifics, and specifications
- Convert project briefs into functional, safe, durable, and budget-conscious designs
- Integrate architectural plans with structural, electrical, mechanical, civil, and alternative engineering teams
- Perform or assist with construction progress evaluations, design reviews, site visits, and inspections
- Examine material submissions, shop drawings, and contractor bids against approved plans
- Account for energy efficiency, accessibility, ventilation, upkeep, and mining-site conditions
- Assist in creating tender files, cost estimates, timelines, and records of design modifications
- Obtain necessary building and planning permissions while maintaining regulatory compliance
Requirements
- Relevant professional registration with a recognized statutory or professional organization
- Familiarity with building design and construction documentation
- Proficiency in Revit, BIM, and/or AutoCAD
- Understanding of construction methods, building materials, specifications, and building services coordination
- Knowledge of planning approvals, building codes, health and safety factors, and accessibility
- Willingness and readiness to visit or work at a remote mining site as needed
Qualifications
- Degree in Architecture or an equivalent recognized architectural credential
- Background in industrial, commercial, mining, or institutional projects
- Experience using 3D visualization software
