Job Description
BHG Financial is a financial services company that started in 2001 with a focus on medical professionals and has since broadened to serve high-earning professionals, small business owners and institutions, including partner community banks. The company says it looks at borrowers holistically, shaped by data, analytics and proprietary models. This remote, full-time position is for an early-career database administrator who will look after SQL Server environments both on premises and in Azure.
The associate works under the direction of senior DBAs. Routine tasks include status checks and general administration, watching availability, capacity, performance, scheduled jobs and alerts, and handling simple problems before escalating anything complex. The role also takes part in backup, restore and recovery testing, database refreshes and migrations, carried out by following established runbooks.
Further responsibilities cover user accounts and permissions, patching, routine maintenance and security settings, all within company policy and change governance. The associate applies T-SQL and sanctioned tools to diagnose issues, review queries and indexes, and automate repetitive jobs. Records such as documentation, operational runbooks and inventories are kept accurate, and the associate joins scheduled maintenance and on-call coverage as assigned.
The ideal candidate has one to three years of hands-on database, systems or related technical work, understands SQL Server and relational concepts, and knows T-SQL, backup and recovery models, permissions and PowerShell. Methodical documentation, clear communication and disciplined handling of sensitive financial information matter a great deal.
