Job Description

Cahaba Media Group publishes business-to-business print and digital titles. The associate editor position supports HomeCare, a title that follows the home-based care sector and the equipment used in it, with attention to older adults, people managing long-term illness and the disability community. The role is full-time and works remotely from within the United States.

This is an entry-level editorial job for a writer who meets deadlines reliably and enjoys careful copy work. Most days involve line editing for print features, website articles and newsletters, plus writing and reporting newsletter items several times each week. The associate also helps assemble the monthly magazine in print and digital form, puts together recurring sections such as industry news and longer reads, and handles search-engine tagging and archive upkeep.

Beyond writing, the associate scouts press releases and trade news for story ideas, drafts house-authored pieces, posts to social channels, and coordinates direction with the editor in chief. Occasional outreach to clients on behalf of the sales team is also part of the job, along with attending trade shows and conferences, some held in person and requiring travel.

Applicants should have studied journalism, English or communications at undergraduate level, or a neighboring subject, and bring between one and two years of work or internship experience. Some copy editing or reporting is expected, along with familiarity with AP style and some use of InDesign and WordPress. The team values people who work well independently but also collaborate closely, and who enjoy researching unfamiliar, shifting industries.
