Job Description

HumanSignal is seeking an Audio Editor for a freelance, remote contract position focused on multitrack dialogue. HumanSignal acts as a human data partner for organizations developing artificial intelligence models and products, managing real-world data collection, annotation, and delivery, and providing Label Studio, an open-source data labeling platform. In this role, the contractor will process multitrack recordings originating from the company production studio and submit finished files meeting specific standards via the platform. Each audio session includes a user microphone, an assistant microphone, and four channels sourced from a Zoom field recorder. The position requires manual editing channel by channel within a digital audio workstation, applying individual level adjustments, noise reduction, and timing alignment across the stereo field. Candidates must follow a grading rubric, submit work for quality assurance, and report recording anomalies such as synchronization errors or camera movement back to the production team. The initial engagement spans two to four weeks with an expected time commitment of twenty to thirty-five hours per week and a potential for extension. An immediate start is required, featuring mandatory group training.

Responsibilities

  • Master approximately one audio file every three hours by cleaning, denoising, leveling, and aligning six distinct tracks per session
  • Apply and calibrate processing tools individually per channel and resolve timing offsets between tracks
  • Submit finished audio files adhering to the designated format and loudness specifications through the platform
  • Adhere to quality assurance rubrics and integrate feedback provided by reviewers
  • Document and report recurring audio issues to assist the studio team in resolving source problems

Requirements

  • Proficiency in operating a professional digital audio workstation such as Reaper, Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, or Logic
  • Demonstrated experience in multitrack dialogue editing and working with field recorder audio
  • Strong proficiency in noise reduction software including iZotope RX or comparable tools
  • Ability to detect and correct timing and phase discrepancies between channels
  • Capacity to maintain consistency and speed while meeting quality standards repeatedly across multiple files
  • Availability for full-time hours for at least the initial two weeks of the contract

Qualifications

  • Background in podcast, film, or broadcast post-production
  • Experience executing work according to a rubric or client specifications at volume
  • Familiarity with Zoom H-series or F-series field recorders
