The organization is seeking an Autonomous Systems Security Engineer to oversee the security domain for its data center footprint and associated hardware. This position involves managing autonomous systems end-to-end, including ground robots, automated vehicles, drones, and uncrewed system detection technologies across critical infrastructure sites.
This role suits an experienced engineer capable of establishing operational frameworks, selecting sensor platforms, writing vendor requirements, and building automated tools and AI agents for detection triage and fleet health. The professional in this position collaborates closely with data center operations, legal teams, site operators, equipment vendors, and public safety authorities. Anthropic integrates Claude throughout its engineering workflows, and team members are expected to utilize it as well. While the headquarters is located in San Francisco, US-based applicants are considered, and the role requires regular travel to data center sites.
Responsibilities
- Manage autonomous platforms for perimeter patrol, incident response, and infrastructure inspection, covering platform selection, maintenance, and data pipelines.
- Develop integrations and AI agents to handle detections, tracking, telemetry, fleet health, and evidence assembly.
- Engineer uncrewed system detection technologies to monitor airspace and areas surrounding data center sites.
- Establish security controls for automated vehicles and robots operating within secure areas, encompassing network isolation, access control, and fail-secure behavior.
- Coordinate regulatory, spectrum, privacy, and safety compliance for sensing and operational activities across all sites.
- Monitor system health by defining heartbeats and loss-of-coverage alarms to ensure silent equipment is identified as a fault.
- Draft vendor requirements, evaluate live runs, and verify that delivered systems meet operational standards.
Requirements
- Experience engineering autonomous or sensing systems in the field, such as drones, ground robots, automated vehicles, or radar and optical detection sensors.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate third-party systems like vendor APIs, SDKs, and telemetry into a unified platform.
- Proficiency in code review, reading code, building automation using Git, and designing data systems for security tools.
- Hands-on operational experience within data centers, critical infrastructure, or large hardware fleets.
- Experience designing solutions within regulatory, safety, or privacy constraints.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a relevant field.
- Remote pilot certification, such as FAA Part 107, along with experience flying beyond visual line of sight.
- Background in counter-drone detection, airspace surveillance, or air traffic data systems.
- Experience managing robot, drone, or automated-vehicle fleets in industrial, logistics, or data center environments.
- Experience securing embedded, operational technology, or robotic systems.
- Background in physical security operations at large sites, law enforcement, aviation authorities, or third-party operated facilities.
- Experience building AI agents or automation that eliminate manual workflows.
