In this client-facing position, the professional executes hands-on automation and reliability engineering for customer deployments, enterprise applications, and big data systems. The work requires setting and meeting client expectations while building scalable infrastructure for data platforms such as Amazon EMR, Redshift, and SageMaker. Independent contributors collaborate closely with engagement teams, establishing operational best practices and automating infrastructure creation.
Responsibilities
- Automate infrastructure creation using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation
- Run application configuration management and enable Infrastructure as Code through deployment tools
- Own and manage build and release cycles for client projects
- Deploy software releases and handle operations and maintenance tasks
- Improve operational infrastructure including Jenkins clusters, Bitbucket, Consul, Graphite, and Grafana
- Provide operational support for the engineering team and assist with cloud legacy migrations
- Enforce operational best practices such as automated system health monitoring
- Build scalable infrastructure for Amazon EMR, Redshift, and SageMaker data platforms
- Construct CI pipelines and guide team members regarding DevOps methods
Requirements
- Four or more years of experience using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code
- Four or more years of configuration management and engineering experience supporting large-scale enterprise clients
- Four or more years of Linux or Windows administration experience
- Four or more years of version control systems practice with git branching and merging strategies
- Two or more years of experience working with AWS infrastructure and platform services
- Two or more years of experience utilizing cloud automation tools like Ansible or Chef
Qualifications
- Expertise spanning multiple cloud platforms including Amazon World Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform
- AWS Solutions Architect Professional or Associate certification
- AWS DevOps Professional certification
- Exposure to container services on AWS such as Kubernetes, ECS, and EKS
