As an individual contributor, this role sits at the intersection of Engineering, Product, Customer Support, and Technical Support. The position focuses on balancing development velocity with production reliability while utilizing agentic development tools and AI practices to streamline operations globally.

Jamf provides Apple device management solutions that help organizations secure and automate the deployment of Mac, iPad, iPhone, and Apple TV. This role suits professionals who want to work in an agile environment focused on trust, ownership, and cross-team collaboration.

Day-to-day duties involve partnering with engineering teams to set service-level objectives, troubleshooting complex production bottlenecks across infrastructure and network layers, and automating away operational toil. Candidates will also guide leadership during critical escalations and help scale the internal site reliability engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineering teams to define service-level objectives, error budgets, and supporting indicators
  • Investigate complex production issues across application, data, infrastructure, and network layers using AI and observability metrics
  • Produce clear technical documentation, runbooks, architecture notes, postmortems, and proofs of concept
  • Identify systemic sources of toil and eliminate them through automation, AI agents, and tooling
  • Establish repository contexts, tasks, and guardrails for reliable AI-authored changes
  • Participate in team agile ceremonies to refine work and drive reliability initiatives
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on reliability designs, roadmaps, and mentoring engineers on site reliability practices
  • Advise senior leadership and stakeholders during critical customer escalations
  • Contribute to scaling the site reliability engineering practice by improving standards and tooling

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, site reliability engineering, or production operations
  • Strong production troubleshooting skills across the stack utilizing first principles and profiling tools
  • Experience working within an agile development framework process
  • Hands-on experience operating production services on Amazon Web Services such as EC2, S3, EKS, RDS or Aurora, and CloudFront
  • Experience utilizing observability tools including Grafana, Prometheus, and LogicMonitor
  • Experience creating clear and concise technical documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience writing infrastructure as code
  • Experience writing automation in a general-purpose language like Python, Go, or Java to a production standard
  • Strong judgment in applying AI safely across site reliability engineering work involving production access and sensitive data
  • Hands-on experience using agentic development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot
  • Experience improving team workflows with AI through reusable skills, repository context files, or prompt patterns

Qualifications

  • Experience optimizing SQL queries and database engine tuning
  • Experience with CI and CD tooling such as Github Actions or Jenkins
