Nanit is looking for a Backend Platform Team Leader to guide its platform pod in a remote capacity. The company develops predictive parenting intelligence technology by combining artificial intelligence, clinical insights, and data derived from billions of sleep hours to assist parents. Supported by funding totaling $125 million, Nanit provides products that serve over a million families.
In this role, the selected candidate will manage a team of three to four direct reports while directing the shared backend infrastructure. Responsibilities include maintaining infrastructure cost-efficiency and reliability, managing multi-quarter architectural programs, and building agentic workflows and tools that allow other engineering pods to deploy code more quickly and securely. The position involves overseeing sprint planning, upholding product development life cycle processes, and driving root-cause analysis during incidents.
This position suits a technical professional who combines hands-on engineering capability with people management experience. Candidates should possess a strong background in backend development, architecture, and cloud systems, alongside a desire to mentor team members and foster their professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Manage the direction, planning, delivery, and working processes of the platform pod
- Oversee the professional growth, performance, and goals of 3 to 4 direct reports
- Keep shared backend infrastructure reliable, secure, and cost-efficient
- Lead multi-quarter architectural programs to reshape the backend and migrate services
- Drive root-cause analysis for incidents and ensure problems are surfaced early
- Own sprint and quarter planning while maintaining a clear and prioritized plan
- Build tools, architecture, and agentic workflows to help other pods ship safely and quickly
Requirements
- At least 6 years of backend development experience
- Significant background in architecture or platform work
- Proven experience as a people manager leading execution and delivery
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes and AWS services including EKS, EC2, RDS, and S3
- Hands-on experience with Redpanda, Kafka, RabbitMQ, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code
- Familiarity with Grafana and Prometheus
