Chaos is hiring a full-time Business Data Analyst to gather, examine and interpret data that informs decisions across several departments. Location options: Germany or the UK, and hybrid or remote arrangements are possible. Applicants must already have valid work or residence authorization for that country, and fluent English is needed.
Chaos is a software business with two decades of work on visualization and design tools for architects, designers, visual effects artists and e-commerce. Its main office is in Karlsruhe, and it operates in 11 cities worldwide. It joined forces with Enscape in 2022 and has since added Cylindo, AXYZ Design and Evolve Lab.
The analyst is accountable for recurring reporting and complicated ad hoc analysis from start to finish and helps improve the existing reporting framework. Duties include defining data needs with stakeholders, assembling and checking information from different systems, cleaning and analysing complex datasets, and explaining what is driving results in plain language. The analyst raises risks and openings early, converts findings into recommendations and follows them through, and acts as a go-to advisor for Product, Finance, Operations, Sales and Marketing teams.
The job also includes spotting data quality and process gaps, building the case for fixes, and steering the rollout of new reporting tools. The analyst is expected to promote AI use in day-to-day analysis and mentor colleagues.
The ideal candidate holds a related bachelor's degree or has equivalent professional background, plus at least five years in data analysis or BI. Experience in SaaS, tech or product analytics helps, as does hands-on use of AI tools in analysis. Advanced Power BI or a similar BI platform and advanced Excel are required. Responsibilities
- Set data requirements with stakeholders, then assemble and validate data from several systems
- Clean and analyze complex datasets to find patterns, trends and root causes
- Summarize findings and flag risks and opportunities early
- Convert analysis into recommendations and track their adoption
- Advise Product, Finance, Operations, Sales and Marketing on their data needs
- Identify data quality and process gaps and build the business case for fixes
- Lead the introduction and uptake of new reporting tools and workflows
- Use AI tools across analysis and reporting and coach colleagues on good practice
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in business, statistics, economics or a neighboring field, or equivalent work experience
- At least five years in data analysis or business intelligence, delivering analysis independently
- Ability to explain conclusions clearly to non-technical and senior audiences
- Strict standards for data quality and accuracy
- Advanced Power BI or comparable BI platform skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel
- Fluent English
Qualifications
- Experience at a SaaS or technology company
- Product analytics experience
- Hands-on time with AI data products, or using AI tools in analytical work
