Job Description
The Adult Rape Clinic in Zimbabwe offers survivor-focused medical, psychosocial, and referral assistance to those affected by Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, alongside advocating for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. The organization requires a Website Redesign and Accessibility Enhancement Consultant for a short-term project.
This engagement centers on overhauling the existing website to elevate its visual presentation, user experience, functionality, and accessibility. The chosen specialist will construct a modern interface, apply strict digital accessibility protocols, optimize performance for low-bandwidth environments, and ensure the platform is fully responsive across all device types.
Additionally, the consultant will implement a Content Management System that allows internal staff to manage updates easily, conduct thorough cross-device testing, train designated team members, and deliver ongoing technical assistance after launch.
Responsibilities
- Redesign the website interface to achieve a modern, professional, and user-friendly appearance matching organizational identity
- Build a mobile-first responsive design that works seamlessly across desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones
- Implement WCAG 2.2 AA standards for digital accessibility, covering screen-reader compatibility and keyboard navigation
- Organize content to highlight emergency services, clinic locations, and contact details clearly
- Optimize website speed, search engine visibility, security, and functionality including low-bandwidth access
- Set up a user-friendly Content Management System for staff content updates
- Perform cross-browser and cross-device testing, train designated personnel, and provide post-launch technical support
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in website development, redesign, and UX/UI design
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive web design
- Working knowledge of WordPress or comparable Content Management Systems
- Familiarity with web accessibility, search engine optimization, performance optimization, and website security
Qualifications
