Joining the portfolio team as a Category Manager, Travel, the incumbent will oversee travel-related solutions including travel management, marketplaces, rideshare, rental cars, and meetings and events.
This position suits a professional with a background in business travel or strategic sourcing who can lead vendor negotiations, direct go-to-market execution, and act as a subject matter expert for internal staff and members. The role requires professional travel of approximately 15 percent of the time. CoreTrust operates out of a tech-enabled office space located in downtown Nashville and provides a flexible work culture.
Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement category strategies for travel solutions encompassing travel marketplaces, managed travel, rental cars, rideshare, and meetings and events
- Act as the main business owner for key vendor relationships and cultivate strategic supplier partnerships
- Direct supplier negotiations, sourcing events, and contract renewals that generate value for the organization and its members
- Collaborate with the marketing and sales departments to introduce new offerings and promote adoption through go-to-market plans
- Evaluate category metrics, track market patterns, and pinpoint areas for operational enhancements, revenue expansion, and member value
- Act as an internal and external travel sector expert, providing support to internal departments and interacting with members directly when necessary
- Keep up to date on supplier developments, market shifts, and new opportunities to enhance the product portfolio
Requirements
- Accumulate at least 5 years of professional background in category management, strategic sourcing, supplier partnerships, business travel, procurement, or a related domain
- Possess a solid understanding of the travel industry ecosystem, encompassing lodging, ground transportation, meetings and events, or travel management companies
- Demonstrate a history of managing contracts, vendor relationships, or strategic alliances
- Show the capability to influence stakeholders and collaborate across various teams including finance, sales, marketing, operations, and customer-facing units
- Exhibit strong analytical skills and business acumen to convert data into actionable recommendations
- Maintain excellent relationship-building, communication, and presentation abilities
- Commit to traveling up to 15 percent of the time as needed
Qualifications
- Bring background experience in corporate travel procurement, supplier management, or category oversight
- Demonstrate prior involvement in leading complex commercial negotiations, RFPs, or sourcing projects
- Familiarity with the Group Purchasing Organization business model
- Possess background experience in mobility, travel technology, meetings and events, or related travel sectors
