Sino-Zimbabwe Cement Company (Pvt) Ltd, a prominent cement producer located 38 kilometers from Gweru within the Midlands Province, is seeking a Chemical Engineer to join its manufacturing facility. This position entails managing and refining raw mix formulations, overseeing clinker creation, and supervising cement milling processes to meet established quality standards.
The successful candidate will examine kiln, cooler, and mill functions alongside the chemical properties of raw inputs, clinker, and finished cement. Responsibilities include performing daily XRF and additional physico-chemical tests, analyzing the resulting data to make necessary process adjustments, and resolving any process irregularities.
This role suits experienced engineering professionals who can interpret technical manuals and process diagrams written in Mandarin, as well as connect Chinese manufacturing standards to international benchmarks. All staff must follow standard operating procedures and comply with SHEQ Management System guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Control and optimize raw mix design, clinker production, and cement milling to hit quality targets
- Monitor and analyze kiln, cooler, and mill operations along with the chemical composition of raw materials, clinker, and cement
- Conduct daily XRF and other physico-chemical tests and interpret the data for process adjustments
- Optimize plant operations, address process deviations, and suggest corrective measures
- Follow standard operating procedures and maintain adherence to SHEQ Management System standards
- Interpret technical process diagrams and manuals written in Mandarin
- Relate Chinese manufacturing standards to other international standards
Requirements
- Ten years of hands-on working experience within the cement industry
- Ability to read and understand technical documentation
Qualifications
- Degree in Chemical Technology, Chemical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification
