PM Pediatric Care is seeking a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join their virtual Behavioral Health Program. This role focuses on psychopharmacology, providing comprehensive mental health care for children, adolescents, and young adults experiencing conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, and conduct disorders through an extended virtual care model. Responsibilities
- Deliver patient services within a virtual behavioral health team using evidence-based medicine
- Evaluate and diagnose mental and behavioral health conditions for pediatric and young adult patients
- Exercise clinical judgment to create and update treatment plans adhering to established care guidelines
- Partner and communicate regularly with therapists, medical leadership, and primary care physicians
- Order and interpret relevant diagnostic tests
- Conduct initial patient evaluations and detailed medical histories
- Prescribe medications according to licensing allowances and provide both medication management and counseling
- Educate patients and parents regarding medication usage, risks, benefits, side effects, and expectations
- Record all patient visits accurately within the electronic medical record system
- Provide supervision to psychiatric nurse practitioners and issue appropriate referrals when needed
Requirements
- Active NY DEA license
- Valid medical license in the prescribing state
- Valid DEA license in the prescribing state
- Prior experience managing psychopharmacology
- Ability to screen individuals for potential danger to self or others
- Adherence to accepted ethical and behavioral conduct standards
- Strong organizational, time management, verbal, and written communication abilities
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree with appropriate state prescribing licensing
- Board eligibility or board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry
- NY Medicaid number
