Altius Search Group is seeking a Commercial Credit Analyst to join a national equipment finance company. This remote role focuses on underwriting commercial borrowers and equipment finance transactions. The chosen professional will draft supported credit recommendations, evaluate repayment capacity, and coordinate with internal teams such as sales, operations, documentation, and credit leadership throughout the approval workflow.
The position requires direct underwriting experience within the equipment finance sector. Candidates possessing only general commercial lending, consumer finance, accounts receivable, leasing, or banking backgrounds will not qualify. Ideal applicants will bring three to seven years of relevant underwriting background, demonstrating the ability to handle assigned deals independently while properly escalating high-risk matters, policy exceptions, and complex deal structures.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite commercial equipment finance deals by reviewing financial statements, tax documents, cash flows, credit bureaus, bank data, collateral, and guarantor backing
- Analyze equipment loans, capital and operating leases, finance leases, sale-leasebacks, and vendor finance programs
- Examine collateral quality, equipment values, advance rates, terms, industry factors, and concentration risks
- Spot potential credit hazards, documentation concerns, and policy violations, providing adequate financial mitigants
- Draft credit memoranda and approval proposals for new requests, amendments, and renewals
- Present transactions and address inquiries from credit leadership or the credit committee
- Coordinate with sales, operations, asset management, and documentation teams to process qualified transactions
- Maintain precise credit records, approval stipulations, and workflow statuses
- Track active transactions for developing hazards, missing details, and unfulfilled conditions, communicating concerns promptly
Requirements
- Three to seven years of direct commercial equipment finance underwriting experience
- Prior underwriting experience specifically within the equipment finance industry
- Strong capability in analyzing financial statements, cash flows, leverage, liquidity, collateral, and repayment ability
- Proficiency in assessing equipment values, advance rates, transaction terms, and guarantor strength
- Ability to manage multiple transactions independently and escalate complex or high-risk matters correctly
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and portfolio management or commercial credit software
- Ability to work remotely from the United States during necessary business hours
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in economics, finance, accounting, business, or a related field
- Equivalent direct commercial equipment finance underwriting experience may be accepted in place of a degree
