Job Description

Enverus is a software company focused on energy, providing analytics and insights that help customers run production and distribution, allocate capital, and source resources. This remote contract role sits within the Operations team's Energy Project group and is open to people based in the US. The examiner runs title searches, identifies and clears title defects, and confirms that property titles are free of encumbrances for utility and construction projects. The posting classifies the role as a contractor position.

The examiner acts as subject matter expert on sovereignty title, covering examination, mineral and royalty interests, leaseholds, curative work, and title insurance needs. Duties involve reviewing mortgages, liens, legal descriptions, easements, reservations, patents, surveys, right-of-way plats, and construction drawings. Searches go back to the first patent, extending as far as Integrity's title plant records allow. The examiner prepares or checks initial energy reports, title commitments, and preliminary reports, drafts and reviews conveyance paperwork, and plots metes and bounds descriptions.

The role also helps management establish a steady, repeatable title process through service-level agreements and written procedures. Day to day, the examiner works closely with the commercial energy team to clear obstacles, handle escalations, and sort out missing, incomplete, or conflicting title information.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out thorough title searches and resolve any defects found
  • Review mortgages, liens, legal descriptions, easements, and conveyance instruments
  • Prepare or review initial energy reports, title commitments, and preliminary reports
  • Draft and check conveyance documents and plot metes and bounds descriptions
  • Clear up missing, incomplete, or conflicting title information
  • Help build service-level agreements and standard operating procedures
  • Coordinate with the commercial energy group when blockers or escalations come up

Requirements

  • At least 5 years as a landman or energy title examiner, or equivalent experience
  • Commercial title examination experience spanning three years or more, or a comparable background
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Practical understanding of commercial and energy title matters, such as unimproved land purchases and sales
  • Skill in reviewing public records such as deeds, mortgages, wills, probate files, divorce decrees, court judgments, and tax rolls
  • Competence with PLSS and lot/block conventions, and with reading construction plans, right-of-way maps, surveys, sketches, and legal descriptions

Qualifications

  • Experience with RamQuest or the Integrity Title Plant, which is preferred
  • Strong influence and interpersonal skills
