Mozilla seeks a Contract Staff Software Engineer to join the Firefox DOM LWS team. This remote, full-time position focuses on advancing the Storage Encryption Everywhere project to its final release stage.
The chosen engineer will contribute directly to the Gecko engine by handling data migrations, setting up data storage inside Private Browsing Mode, and executing comprehensive integration testing. Daily duties include writing Web Platform Tests, authoring Gecko tests, navigating code reviews with module owners, resolving specification inquiries, and guiding the feature as it progresses from Nightly and Beta through to the final release channel. Professionals must also address performance bottlenecks, regressions, and correctness problems as they arise.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to delivering Storage Encryption Everywhere in Gecko by migrating schema data, implementing data storage in PBM, and running integration tests
- Write and pass Web Platform Tests alongside new Gecko tests
- Complete code reviews with relevant Gecko module owners until code lands
- Identify and resolve specification questions raised by implementation
- Shepherd the feature through Nightly, Beta, and Release channels
- Fix correctness errors, performance issues, and regressions
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in C++
- Substantial experience working in a browser-engine codebase, preferably Firefox or Gecko
- Substantial experience working with databases
- Familiarity with web standards and Web Platform Tests
- Strong debugging and optimization capabilities in a multithreaded codebase
- Comfort working in the open with public bugs, code reviews, and upstream landings
Qualifications
- Prior contributions to Gecko or another major browser engine
- Familiarity with relevant standards bodies and the specification process
