Success Matcher is partnering with an early-stage space and maritime organization constructing the inaugural purpose-built offshore rocket launch platform. This enterprise features a small team primarily focused on engineering and operations, and has secured its initial full-scale build agreement for a 200-foot maritime launch platform slated for the water next year, backed by long-term revenue projections and a five-year fleet expansion strategy.
As the initial full-time finance employee, you will report directly to the Co-Founder and CEO. The position begins with hands-on responsibilities handling transactions and operations for the initial build, progressing toward full ownership of accounting and finance. You will evolve into the senior finance leader as the organization scales toward Series B and C funding rounds and beyond. During your initial 90 days, you will collaborate closely with engineering and operations to align the first build processes with back-office workflows.
This opportunity suits an experienced finance professional with a strong foundational accounting background who thrives on establishing process, structure, and discipline from the ground up.
Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable for large, low-volume transactions during the initial build
- Oversee the month-end close process and direct the outsourced bookkeeper
- Handle cash flow management, budgeting, and budget-to-actual comparisons
- Develop the reporting package for leadership and quarterly board meetings
- Transition the finance stack from QuickBooks Online to an advanced ERP system and integrate it with the vessel-management platform
- Recruit and supervise an accounts payable and accounts receivable team member within the first one to two quarters
- Spend the first 90 days alongside operations and engineering to connect processes with back-office workflows
Requirements
- Active CPA license
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Big Four accounting firm background at Deloitte, PwC, EY, or KPMG
- Approximately 6 to 12 years of progressive professional experience serving as a controller, accounting manager, or head of finance
- Extensive hands-on accounting background covering personal execution of closes, accounts payable and receivable, cash forecasting, and reporting
- Demonstrated ability to establish financial processes, structure, and discipline from scratch
- Prior experience scaling or building a finance department in a high-growth or early-stage setting
