Pavago is hiring a remote, full-time Controller for one of its clients to oversee financial close cycles, compliance, reporting, and accounting operations within a expanding enterprise. Operating during United States business hours, this leadership position requires managing accounting personnel, interfacing with executive leadership and external auditors, and ensuring robust internal controls. The ideal candidate blends deep technical accounting skills with strategic financial planning, operational efficiency, and process automation expertise. Key daily activities involve producing financial statements, directing the month-end close within a five-business-day window, refining ERP and reporting infrastructure, and delivering data-driven business recommendations to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes with a five-business-day completion target
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, payroll allocations, depreciation schedules, and intercompany transactions
- Generate GAAP and IFRS compliant financial statements including Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reports
- Deliver executive reporting packages, variance analyses, financial commentary, and dashboards for leadership, boards, and investors
- Design and enforce internal accounting controls to ensure compliance with tax regulations, audits, and regulatory mandates
- Coordinate external audits and handle client-prepared document requests
- Collaborate with the FP&A department on yearly budgets, forecasting, scenario planning, and capital planning
- Oversee cash flow, working capital, liquidity, and debt compliance
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the performance of accounting team members
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through ERP implementations, automation, and standard operating procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline
- Minimum of seven years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- At least two years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Solid understanding of GAAP, IFRS, internal controls, financial reporting, and close management
- Practical experience using ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks Enterprise, or similar platforms
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
Qualifications
- Professional certification as a CPA, ACCA, or holding an MBA
- Prior work history as a Controller, Finance Manager, or Accounting Manager
- Demonstrated background in ERP implementations or merger and acquisition integrations
- Industry exposure in SaaS, Professional Services, or Real Estate
- Familiarity with analytics tools like Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or financial dashboards
