HelloFresh is seeking a Data Engineer to join its Supply Chain Operations team in a full-time, remote capacity based out of Toronto, ON. This position involves managing the complete data lifecycle, which includes designing system architecture, creating pipeline workflows, and handling production development. The chosen professional will build and scale both batch and real-time streaming pipelines to unify data across procurement, menu planning, forecasting, fulfillment, logistics, and warehouse management systems. By modeling physical domain entities and supplying reliable data assets, this individual will enable real-time tracking, reporting, and automated decision-making. The role requires close cross-functional collaboration with Data Scientists, Operations Analysts, and stakeholders in procurement and logistics to support cost optimization and operational efficiency. The salary range for this position is set between $104,000 and $119,000 CAD. While the role features remote flexibility, HelloFresh operates on a flexible hybrid model requiring a minimum of two days in the office per week.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain batch and streaming data pipelines connecting procurement, warehouse management, logistics, fulfillment, and forecasting systems
- Build real-time integrations to monitor ingredient inventory levels, order status, and carrier tracking across distribution centers
- Collaborate with Data Scientists and Operations Analysts to operationalize demand forecasting models and track inventory accuracy
- Monitor operational metrics such as fulfillment error rates and cost per box
- Maintain data quality, freshness, and lineage for executive dashboards and automated alerts
- Translate physical workflow requirements into data infrastructure alongside cross-functional partners
Requirements
- At least three years of professional experience as a Data Engineer delivering production pipelines
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, dbt, and PySpark for constructing scalable data architectures
- Experience applying data modeling techniques such as dimensional modeling, relational architecture, and event-driven streams to physical supply chain or logistics operations
- Familiarity with software engineering tools and practices including Git, CI/CD, Docker, and AWS
- Ability to utilize Generative AI tools like Claude and GitHub Copilot for development, debugging, and documentation
- Communication skills suitable for interacting with warehouse operators, logistics planners, and business stakeholders
Qualifications
