Zyte is hiring a remote Data QA Engineer to join its globally distributed team of over 250 employees across more than 28 countries. Founded in 2010, the company helps businesses extract the data they need to innovate and grow. In this full-time role, you will ensure that data delivered by spiders and AI-assisted projects meets customer specifications before delivery.
The position involves evaluating requirements early in the project lifecycle, performing manual and automated tests, and reporting defect details so developers can resolve them quickly. You will also use descriptive statistics and charts to measure data completeness, accuracy, consistency, and drift. This role is well-suited for a self-motivated professional who can operate with minimal supervision in an agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Translate customer scraping and data requirements into clear test strategies and manage quality assurance from project inception.
- Perform exploratory manual and visual testing alongside automated test creation.
- Execute test cycles on extracted data and deliver clear test results.
- Document defects thoroughly to allow developers to reproduce and fix issues without extra discussion.
- Use summaries, charts, and descriptive statistics to measure completeness, accuracy, consistency, and drift.
- Generate quality scores and test reports outlining scope, untested areas, and associated risks.
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to resolve ambiguous or untestable requirements.
- Contribute to the test automation framework with an emphasis on coverage and performance.
- Propose and manage enhancements to QA processes, tooling, UI-based automation, and browser or spreadsheet add-ons.
- Coordinate with developers, project managers, and quality assurance leadership independently.
Requirements
- 5 or more years of experience working as a QA Engineer or in a similar software or data testing capacity.
- Proficiency in Python, specifically using Pandas and Jupyter for data validation and analysis.
- Basic to intermediate SQL querying skills and familiarity with at least one relational database and its management tools.
- Strong knowledge of web protocols and technologies including HTTP, HTML, CSS, XPath, and JSON.
- Background in writing tests for HTTP and REST APIs.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban within development teams.
- Understanding of data quality principles like consistency, accuracy, drift, and completeness.
- Proficient written and spoken communication skills in English.

- Working familiarity with Python-based scraping frameworks such as Scrapy.
- Experience utilizing test automation frameworks.
- Interest in applying data science concepts to data validation and analysis.
