Job Description
The National University of Science and Technology (NUST) is seeking a Director for the Graduate School of Business Sciences (GSBS) located in Bulawayo. Established in 1997 under NUST’s Faculty of Business and Economic Sciences, GSBS delivers executive, postgraduate, and doctoral education, and is affiliated with AABS. The incoming Director will provide strategic and operational leadership to guide the institution into its next growth phase, enhance its global standing and industry engagement, and drive academic excellence across Zimbabwe and beyond. This leadership mandate suits experienced business leaders, practitioner-scholars, and senior professionals equipped to shape African business education.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to drive growth, financial sustainability, and impact for GSBS
- Develop and expand professional and executive education programs for entrepreneurs and senior leaders
- Establish high-value partnerships with industry, government, and corporate entities
- Drive academic excellence through curriculum innovation, quality assurance, and faculty development
- Foster a research culture addressing business, societal, and policy challenges in emerging markets
- Recruit and retain high-calibre academic and practitioner faculty
- Expand internationalisation efforts via joint programs, exchanges, and global networks
- Elevate the participant experience and strengthen the brand of GSBS locally and internationally
- Drive commercial and entrepreneurial growth through consultancy, research, and innovative programs
- Ensure sound operational and financial performance aligned with university priorities
- Promote an inclusive culture of integrity, excellence, and innovation
Requirements
- Extensive senior managerial, professional, or industry experience involving strategy, business development, leadership, or transformation
- Demonstrated background in executive or postgraduate education
- Proven history of institutional leadership, people management, and organizational development
- Track record of forging partnerships with government, industry, professional bodies, or international organizations
- Documented research, thought leadership, publications, or other intellectual contributions
- Familiarity with current business environment topics such as digital transformation, AI, sustainability, and entrepreneurship
Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent research doctorate in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Strategy, Organisational Behaviour, or a closely related field from a globally recognized research university
- Standing as a senior or tenured professor, or equivalent impact and seniority as a practitioner-scholar in professional practice, government, or industry
- Experience managing or developing commercially sustainable consulting, educational, or professional-service initiatives
