This hands-on, execution-focused position reports directly to the Controller and manages the general ledger accounting team. The selected professional will take complete ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close cycles while guiding external audits and shaping internal controls. Responsibilities
- Manage the overall general ledger accounting team and direct the financial controllership framework
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close operations to guarantee precise reporting
- Supervise, mentor, and foster accountability within the internal accounting personnel
- Coordinate external audits as the primary liaison, overseeing substantive testing and committee deliverables
- Refine accounting procedures, internal controls, and governance policies to prepare the firm for an initial public offering
- Collaborate with the Controller on technical matters including revenue recognition under ASC 606, software capitalization under ASC 350-40, and stock-based compensation under ASC 718
- Integrate artificial intelligence tooling and drive process enhancements for system scalability
- Update executive leadership regarding financial risks, reporting timelines, and close performance
Requirements
- Possess eight to ten years of progressive accounting experience
- Demonstrate hands-on history of managing and developing direct-report personnel
- Show verified experience executing month-end closes and handling external audits from start to finish
- Bring a startup mindset with comfort operating in high-growth environments amid shifting priorities
- Exhibit working knowledge of SaaS revenue recognition principles
Qualifications
- Earned a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Hold an active Certified Public Accountant designation
- Bring prior work experience specifically within the SaaS industry
- Familiarity with ASC 350-40 regarding capitalized software and ASC 718 for equity accounting
- Experience using systems such as NetSuite, Zip, or Stripe
