Boulevard seeks a remote Director of Engineering, Cloud & Reliability to guide infrastructure transformation and build industry-leading reliability standards. Boulevard operates a client experience platform designed for appointment-based, self-care businesses such as salons, spas, and barbershops. In this role, the selected leader will steer cloud infrastructure, DevOps methodologies, and platform capabilities while reporting directly to the SVP of Engineering.
The position is ideal for an experienced technical leader prepared to architect scalable, secure, and highly available systems that support rapid company expansion across small business, franchise, and enterprise sectors. Responsibilities span leading a team of infrastructure and reliability engineers, executing the Amazon EKS migration, driving CI/CD pipeline modernization, and establishing enterprise-grade security practices aligned with frameworks like PCI, HIPAA, and SOC 2. The role also entails partnering with product, services, and data engineering teams to deliver robust self-service infrastructure foundations.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the long-term infrastructure and security strategy
- Lead, mentor, and expand a team of infrastructure and reliability engineers
- Partner with Product, Services, and Data Engineering teams to deliver infrastructure foundations
- Drive architectural decisions for cloud infrastructure, security systems, and operational practices
- Establish comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and incident response procedures
- Manage compliance with industry standards including PCI, HIPAA, and SOC 2
- Lead the migration from existing infrastructure to Amazon EKS and containerization
- Design and implement hot-hot disaster recovery with automated failover systems
- Modernize deployment pipelines and scale Terraform usage with GitOps practices
Requirements
- Ten or more years of experience in cloud infrastructure and platform engineering
- Five or more years leading infrastructure teams consisting of five to fifteen engineers
- Deep expertise with AWS services including EKS, RDS, VPC, and IAM
- Extensive experience utilizing Terraform for infrastructure automation
- Proven background in migrating applications to Kubernetes and container-based architectures
- Strong familiarity with security practices, security automation, and compliance frameworks such as PCI, HIPAA, and SOC 2
- Demonstrated history of transforming CI/CD pipelines and implementing GitOps workflows
- Expertise in monitoring and observability platforms like DataDog, Prometheus, and Grafana
