Flosum is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to join their team in a remote position based in Belgium. The company specializes in developing enterprise-grade software products that combine cloud-native development with Salesforce integration. This role is suited for an experienced technical leader who enjoys a hands-on approach and wants to take full accountability for turning product roadmaps into successfully delivered software.
The person in this position will directly manage, coach, and grow a team of ten full-stack developers working with Node.js and Salesforce customizations. Responsibilities include improving developer velocity utilizing DORA metrics, compressing delivery schedules by breaking down work into smaller increments, and architecting comprehensive solutions that cover microservices, APIs, and event-driven patterns. The successful candidate will also oversee overall solution performance regarding latency, scalability, and cost, while partnering with cross-functional teams such as Product, QA, and Infrastructure.

Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and manage a team of ten full-stack developers working across Node.js services and Salesforce customizations
- Drive improvements in developer velocity using DORA metrics including lead time, deployment frequency, change failure rate, and mean time to recovery
- Compress delivery schedules by breaking epics into independently shippable slices and challenging inflated estimates with data
- Architect end-to-end solutions spanning Node.js microservices, APIs, event-driven patterns, and Salesforce integrations
- Manage solution performance metrics including latency, throughput, scalability, and cost by setting and enforcing SLOs
- Establish sprint, release, and estimation discipline while removing blockers for the team
- Partner with Product, QA, and Infrastructure teams to align roadmaps, capacities, and dependencies
- Handle recruitment, onboarding, and performance management for engineering staff
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in software engineering
- At least 5 years of experience leading development teams consisting of 8 to 20 engineers
- Hands-on expertise with Node.js including Express or Nest, async patterns, performance tuning, and microservices
- Working knowledge of the Salesforce platform covering Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, REST, Platform Events, and integrations
- Demonstrated background as a technical architect designing distributed systems, API contracts, data models, and performance-critical production solutions
- Track record of schedule compression and reducing cycle times without sacrificing quality
- Experience in Agile, Scrum, or Kanban environments with strong estimation and planning skills
- Experience driving solution performance through profiling, caching, query optimization, horizontal scaling, and observability
- Cloud-native delivery experience with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and modern DevOps practices
- Strong stakeholder communication skills for negotiating scope, time, and quality with executives
