Certara is seeking a Director for its PBPK/PBBM Consultancy team in biopharmaceutics. This remote position involves leading consultancy projects for pharmaceutical industry clients, focusing on building PBPK models tailored for biopharmaceutics needs. Certara aids the life sciences sector by utilizing biosimulation software, analytics, and data to streamline drug discovery, development, and commercialization across over 2,400 global clients.
The person hired will manage a team of PBPK/PBBM modeling scientists, guide the biopharmaceutics modeling business strategy, and function as the primary consultant on modeling assignments. Key duties include reviewing team outputs, preparing responses for regulatory agencies, serving as a subject matter expert during business development efforts, and mentoring staff. The role suits an experienced modeling scientist with a strong background in biopharmaceutics, formulation, or pharmacokinetics who wants to lead scientific engagement and direct client relationships.

Responsibilities
- Lead a team of PBPK and PBBM scientists specializing in biopharmaceutics modeling
- Drive the business strategy for biopharmaceutics modeling
- Serve as the lead consultant on biopharmaceutics and other PBPK modeling assignments
- Supervise team outputs by reviewing simulation plans, modeling work, and regulatory submissions
- Act as a subject matter expert for business development to secure new clients and manage existing relationships
- Participate in marketing and scientific engagement activities related to PBPK modeling and biopharmaceutics
- Contribute as a member of the PBPK consulting leadership team and cross-company initiatives
- Mentor staff members and expand the biopharmaceutics modeling team
- Stay informed on scientific advancements in PBPK/PBBM and communicate them internally and externally
Requirements
- PhD degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, IVIVE, formulation, or biopharmaceutics
- At least 8 years of professional experience in PBPK or PBBM modeling with demonstrated biopharmaceutic applications
- In-depth familiarity with applying PBPK modeling throughout drug discovery and development, along with understanding regulatory agency acceptance
- Practical expertise using leading PBPK or PBBM modeling platforms, ideally including Simcyp
- Capacity and motivation to supervise scientists and consultants
- Strong written and oral communication skills for interacting with industry peers, academia, and regulators
- Established industry standing to help expand the global client base and consultancy group
