Trase Systems is seeking a Director, Production and Infrastructure Engineering for a full-time, remote position with a salary range of USD 240,000 to 290,000 per year. Trase delivers end-to-end enterprise AI solutions designed to simplify deployment, management, and optimization while bridging the final stage of AI adoption. The company leads the Hugging Face GAIA Leaderboard for Generalized AI Assistants and builds mission-critical agentic applications for complex sectors such as Healthcare, Oil & Gas, and National Security.
In this leadership role, you will direct the production and infrastructure engineering organization, managing personnel across DevOps, SRE, DevEx, MLOps, and a dedicated support team. You will combine people management with technical oversight, participating in code and design reviews, investigating technical issues, and guiding practical solutions. The ideal candidate is a nimble and adaptable leader who can organize ambiguous tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and unite various technical disciplines around common goals.
Your responsibilities will span team development, technical execution across multiple domains, sprint planning, delivery tracking, production readiness, and operational improvements. You will also coordinate closely with Product, Platform, Applied AI, and Security/GRC departments. Certain national security assignments may require U.S. citizenship, eligibility for a security clearance, and some travel.
Responsibilities
- Manage hiring, onboarding, one-on-ones, performance management, and career development for engineering staff
- Set shared priorities and responsibilities across infrastructure, reliability, developer experience, testing, and application delivery
- Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, capacity planning, and delivery reviews alongside technical leads and TPMs
- Participate in design and code reviews, and join investigations or pairing sessions when the team encounters blockers
- Establish release readiness criteria, ensure testing and operational documentation support deployment choices, and oversee change management
- Drive improvements in cloud infrastructure, automation, CI/CD, observability, on-call readiness, and incident response
- Manage a cross-functional team of full-stack engineers, DevOps engineers, and a dedicated TPM
- Collaborate with Product, Platform, Applied AI, and Security/GRC teams on delivery priorities and operational requirements
Requirements
- 10 or more years of relevant engineering experience, including at least 5 years of direct engineering people management
- Demonstrated leadership across multiple engineering functions at the director level
- Strong background in planning, prioritization, delegation, and stakeholder communication
- Technical foundation in at least one major cloud platform such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, including Kubernetes and containers
- Practical experience with Terraform, Git-based workflows, GitOps, and CI/CD
- Background in building and shipping production software across backend services, APIs, and data stores
- Experience leading production delivery, reliability, incident response, and automated testing collaboration
Qualifications
- Familiarity with MLOps, model serving, or operating AI/ML and agent workloads
- Experience supporting customer-managed environments, multi-cloud setups, or complex enterprise deployments
- Experience working in national security, federal, regulated, or other security-sensitive environments
- Background in scaling an engineering organization or building a new operating function in a fast-changing company
