Responsibilities
- Formulate and continuously advance the enterprise technology architecture, outlining target-state principles and modernization pathways
- Translate commercial goals into architectural strategies that balance delivery speed with scalability, security, and cost efficiency
- Collaborate with product and engineering groups to build durable, reusable foundations for client tools, data products, and AI solutions
- Manage architecture governance by introducing streamlined review processes, decision rights, and technical reference standards
- Identify and address systemic risks including legacy limitations, single points of failure, security concerns, and integration bottlenecks
- Direct multi-year investment plans covering cloud infrastructure, developer productivity, observability, and technical debt reduction
- Establish measurable expectations for service reliability, disaster recovery, scalability, and operational readiness
- Advise executive stakeholders on technical trade-offs, vendor choices, build-versus-buy decisions, and emerging technologies
- Build and direct an influential architecture community to develop senior technical talent and drive shared ownership
Requirements
- Deep technical leadership background as a Chief Architect, Distinguished Engineer, VP of Architecture, or similar role in digital, e-commerce, marketplace, or consumer technology
- Proven track record of driving large-scale architecture modernization across distributed systems, cloud platforms, and customer-facing applications
- Expertise in designing resilient, scalable, secure, and observable systems encompassing disaster recovery and operational excellence
- Demonstrated ability to balance immediate product delivery needs with long-term platform health and make trade-offs actionable
- Experience creating governance frameworks, reference patterns, and technical standards that empower team autonomy
- Proficiency in modern cloud-native engineering, event-driven integrations, data platforms, and AI machine-learning foundations
