Operating as part of the organization's Global unit, the contractor will support the free website fool.ca by reviewing, polishing, and publishing content centered on Canadian investing and retirement planning. This role suits detail-oriented editors who possess strong grammar and fact-checking capabilities, a high degree of organizational skill, and the ability to meet daily deadlines independently. The compensation range for this hourly contractor role is $45 to $50 CAD per hour.
Responsibilities
- Content-edit articles about investing and retirement planning for logical flow, engagement, and clear structure
- Copy-edit written materials to eliminate spelling and grammatical mistakes
- Publish finalized articles in WordPress including metadata such as images, stock tickers, and stock ownership disclosures
- Collaborate with the managing editor to understand financial concepts and spot compliance or regulatory concerns
- Offer feedback to the managing editor regarding content creation and writer performance
- Provide constructive feedback to writers to assist in improving their writing skills
Requirements
- Prior editorial experience, preferably with online editorial-style content
- Expertise in grammar, writing style, and financial fact-checking
- High level of organizational skills
- Ability to self-motivate and maintain pace to meet daily deadlines
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
