Teachable is seeking a dynamic Engineering Manager to guide and expand our engineering talent. As a key leader, you will balance direct people management, delivery ownership, and cross-functional partnerships to ensure our squads achieve company objectives. In this role, you will cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, champion diversity, and steer strategic engineering initiatives. This position is offered as a CLT contract paid in Brazilian Reais ($BRL) and operates within a collaborative, remote-first setup.

Responsibilities
- <ul><li>Lead, mentor, and coach over six software engineers simultaneously, guiding their performance and career progression.</li><li>Optimize department workflows across software creation, operational productivity, and project execution.</li><li>Collaborate with engineering leadership to shape departmental strategy and eliminate organization-wide bottlenecks.</li><li>Drive key technology initiatives encompassing talent acquisition, professional growth, budgeting, and internal policies.</li><li>Partner cross-functionally with product management, design, and marketing teams to execute pod initiatives successfully.</li><li>Sponsor engineering guilds, department projects, and collaborative community activities.</li></ul>
Requirements
- <ul><li>Possess at least 5 years of software engineering background, including 1 to 2 years in technical leadership or people management roles.</li><li>Demonstrate expertise in project management, successfully balancing tradeoffs to hit deadlines and maintain high quality.</li><li>Showcase experience directing technical projects that span across multiple domains or squads.</li><li>Excel in ambiguous environments, making steady headway with minimal supervision.</li><li>Bring hands-on knowledge in building and managing web applications.</li><li>Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, Go, and React is considered a nice-to-have advantage.</li></ul>

- 5+ years of software engineering background with 1-2+ years in technical leadership or people management, strong project management skills, and experience operating within distributed remote teams.
