Job Description
Fingerprint, a provider of device intelligence that helps organizations detect and prevent digital fraud, seeks an Engineering Manager for its Automation Intelligence team. Operating as a globally distributed organization, Fingerprint is recognized on the Forbes Best Startup Employers list and the Inc. 5000 ranking. In this position, the successful candidate will lead a dedicated engineering group focused on browser detection, edge detection, classification systems, and customer-facing APIs designed to identify AI agents, automated bots, and crawlers.
Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, the manager will guide the automation intelligence product from beta through general availability and into a standalone commercial launch. The role involves overseeing a senior team of engineers who utilize an AI-native development model where automated coding agents handle primary code generation. The manager will establish quality loops, manage detection precision, scale service limits, and define team operating procedures. This opportunity suits an experienced engineering leader with a technical foundation in security, web systems, or fraud prevention who is comfortable guiding a self-directed, highly autonomous team.
Responsibilities
- Manage, coach, and expand a senior engineering team starting with a detection research and quality engineer
- Drive the engineering roadmap for beta, general availability, and standalone commercial release
- Establish a weekly detection quality loop utilizing automated testing for false positives and false negatives against a priority test corpus
- Operate the AI-native development model by measuring workflows, running reviews, and sharing findings across the engineering organization
- Oversee service reliability, throughput, latency targets, and availability SLOs before broad customer adoption
- Collaborate with product managers to define requirements, estimates, and delivery sequences
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience managing software engineers, including senior and staff-level individual contributors
- Minimum of 8 years in software engineering prior to or alongside management responsibilities
- Professional background in at least one relevant domain such as bot detection, fraud prevention, web security, client-side engineering, or high-volume API services
- Experience building or operating measurement-driven engineering practices involving test corpora, tracking, and regression suites
- Hands-on familiarity with AI coding tools and agents in a professional environment
Qualifications
- Direct working experience with bot management or anti-automation products at a security, WAF, or CDN vendor
- Familiarity with AI agent ecosystems, verification protocols, and browser internal or automation evasion frameworks
- Background operating API-first products featuring public OpenAPI specifications and software development kits
- Experience forming a new engineering team from an existing group by separating codebases and establishing ownership boundaries
- Previous tenure in high-growth software-as-a-service companies serving enterprise clients
