Ebury's London office is recruiting an engineering manager to head the Communications Platform team. The team builds high-volume, business-critical messaging routes for email, texts, WhatsApp and similar services, and designs platform components that remain resilient and available for every messaging need. The role is hybrid, with four office days and one day at home, and includes responsibility for the public website.
The manager gives engineers specific feedback and clear growth plans, converts vague business objectives into delivery plans, and manages risk so work stays on track. Reviewing architecture for event-driven transaction systems on AWS and BigQuery is part of the role, along with partnering with Product, Design and business units to shape customer solutions. The manager also owns production stability, sustainable on-call arrangements, testing practices, CI/CD and monitoring, and adopts AI tools carefully while retaining responsibility for code that ships.
Applicants must have led engineers before, in a management role or a comparable leadership position, plus a background in fintech or financial services and work in a setting that spans several channels and products. A track record of building platforms that integrate with several messaging vendors is essential. Useful additions include integrating email and SMS providers, scaling public websites, cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure, container technology, and domain-driven design. Requirements
- Previous experience leading engineers in a management role or comparable position
