Chime is seeking an experienced engineering leader to direct its Data team in constructing a scalable, self-serve data architecture. Operating as a financial technology company rather than a traditional bank, Chime provides helpful, accessible, and fee-free tools designed to assist members in managing personal finances, launching businesses, and working toward financial milestones.
In this role, the selected candidate will spearhead artificial intelligence and data-focused initiatives meant to accelerate company growth, refine decision-making processes, and advance the overall data platform. The position involves close collaboration with product, analytics, data science, and marketing divisions to release reliable, secure, and high-quality data products while acting as a strategic advisor to the business. Additionally, the supervisor will guide, mentor, and expand high-performing engineering personnel, championing an environment built on continuous learning, technical excellence, and operational velocity.
This position is designated as fully remote, though the employer also offers options for employees near company offices under a hybrid schedule. Candidates should possess a strong background in guiding data engineering operations and constructing AI-ready data infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Steer AI-driven and data-centric initiatives designed to advance the company data platform and enhance business decision-making
- Partner closely with product, analytics, data science, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver secure and trusted data products
- Lead, mentor, and grow high-performing engineering teams while fostering a culture of collaboration and technical excellence
- Establish clear direction, maintain high performance expectations, and drive operational excellence
- Collaborate across departments to prioritize projects, clear delivery roadblocks, and maintain high engineering velocity
Requirements
- Have at least five years of experience leading data engineering teams
- Demonstrate proven experience constructing scalable, AI-ready data platforms, semantic models, and reliable data products
- Show strong collaboration skills with product, analytics, data science, and marketing divisions to achieve business results
- Possess experience driving operational reliability, data quality, governance, and CI/CD pipelines
- Bring background supporting teams with technologies such as Spark, Snowflake, data warehouses, data lakes, key-value stores, and dbt
