Hover develops property data solutions and 3D modeling tools utilized by homeowners, insurance specialists, and contractors. The company is currently looking for an Engineering Manager to guide its Mobile Core team on a remote basis. This position operates as a player-coach role centered on establishing high reliability, strong performance standards, and a streamlined developer experience for the Hover Pro application.
The chosen individual will spend approximately half of their time on design reviews, coding, and debugging, 30 percent on leadership tasks, and 20 percent on cross-functional planning. Responsibilities include elevating crash-free user sessions to 99.99 percent, refining CI/CD pipelines, collaborating closely with the mobile quality assurance lead, and overseeing shared infrastructure such as design systems and offline data storage. The technical environment encompasses TypeScript, React Native, Expo, and native iOS and Android frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Raise the percentage of crash-free sessions and upload success rates to 99.99 percent
- Streamline the contributor experience by accelerating continuous integration and clarifying testing procedures
- Guide architectural direction across TypeScript, React Native, Expo, and native mobile environments
- Improve release cadences, on-call rotations, and old-version sunsets
- Partner with mobile quality assurance on testability, debugging menus, and developer tooling
- Steward shared foundations including offline data layers, push notifications, and design systems
Requirements
- Demonstrated hands-on background shipping production-scale React Native and TypeScript applications
- Experience leading software engineers through coaching, hiring, and performance management
- Familiarity with native iOS and Android boundaries such as native modules, background tasks, and application lifecycle
- Track record of overseeing shared mobile foundations like release management and test automation
- Practical utilization of AI-assisted coding assistants like Claude or Cursor
- Proficiency in utilizing monitoring solutions such as Sentry or New Relic to address crash rates
Qualifications
- Background working with cameras, augmented reality, LiDAR, or large media uploads within React Native
- Familiarity with offline-first synchronization solutions or enterprise mobile constraints like MDM and WCAG accessibility
- Experience operating within construction, field-services, or insurance software domains
