Xapo Bank is seeking a Financial Controller to oversee financial reporting integrity across its regulated credit institution and Bitcoin-first group. This 100% remote position allows team members to work from anywhere in the world as part of a fully distributed organization headquartered in Gibraltar. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the chosen candidate will direct the Financial Controlling and Regulatory Reporting teams.
This role encompasses managing consolidated and entity financial statements, multi-entity closing cycles, regulatory returns, external audits, and tax compliance. The position is well-suited for an experienced accounting leader with a background in banking, fintech, or digital assets who can apply IFRS principles to crypto holdings and collaborate on AI-driven finance automation.

Responsibilities
- Manage the preparation of consolidated and entity financial statements in compliance with IFRS and FRS 102 from initial draft through final sign-off.
- Execute month-end and year-end closing cycles for a multi-entity group spanning Gibraltar and the UK, incorporating consolidation and intercompany eliminations.
- Oversee statutory accounts for each group entity while maintaining internal control accuracy and integrity.
- Direct regulatory reporting submissions to the GFSC and FCA, including capital and liquidity prudential returns and periodic management accounts.
- Collaborate across departments to prepare client asset reporting and adapt to shifting regulatory frameworks.
- Coordinate the group external audit from planning stages through fieldwork, technical queries, and final sign-off.
- Provide technical accounting support regarding crypto asset treatment under IFRS and draft supporting documentation.
- Supervise tax compliance and manage external tax advisors concerning crypto asset tax treatment.
- Enhance NetSuite reporting capabilities and work with the finance transformation team to integrate AI and automation into reporting workflows.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Financial Controlling and Regulatory Reporting teams to foster high performance and accountability.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of experience functioning as a Controller leading an accounting function.
- Professional background within a bank, fintech, or crypto enterprise.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in IFRS and FRS 102 with hands-on statement preparation experience.
- Experience with crypto asset accounting under IFRS, including fair value revaluation and on-chain reconciliations.
- Prior regulatory reporting experience, including Basel capital and liquidity returns such as COREP.
- Direct experience managing external audits.
- NetSuite proficiency and advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Familiarity utilizing AI tools in finance functions.
- Possession of a dedicated workspace and a reliable, high-speed internet connection.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional accountant qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
