The controller would drive month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing and produce financial statements, explanations of variances and KPIs for the CEO. Responsibilities include overseeing the general ledger, postings, account reconciliations and the account structure, and keeping every transaction aligned with GAAP rules. The role also covers payables and vendor terms, receivables and collections, inventory valuation and cost of goods sold, sales commission calculations, cash forecasting, and tax and audit coordination with an outside CPA firm. The controller would contribute to the annual budget and rolling forecasts, upgrade financial systems and put internal controls in place, including approval workflows and separation of duties. Repairing weak processes and building structure into accounting is a major objective.
