Smartcat is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer (EMEA) to join its remote-friendly team on a full-time basis. Operating in the Agentic AI category, the company combines generative AI, human-in-the-loop workflows, and a living Enterprise Skill Graph to help more than 1,000 enterprises build hybrid workforces of humans and AI agents for translation and localization needs.
In this technical, customer-facing role, the professional will build and deploy localized enterprise workflows across learning and development, websites, and marketing systems. Responsibilities include guiding technical discovery, leading customer onboarding, managing production readiness, and transforming custom client projects into reusable integration patterns and connectors.
The position suits an engineer with hands-on coding skills, experience building AI workflows, and a background in shipping enterprise integrations. Candidates must be willing to travel up to 40%. Smartcat is a Series C organization experiencing rapid year-over-year growth, operating with a globally distributed workforce spanning over thirty countries.
Responsibilities
- Translate customer requirements into detailed technical plans with clear acceptance criteria and dependencies
- Construct AI workflows utilizing prompts, translation memories, glossaries, and human review routing
- Write and deploy integrations for commerce platforms, LMS, PIM, DAM, and CMS environments
- Oversee production readiness including data security, monitoring, error handling, testing, and quality evaluation
- Collaborate with Account teams to drive customer adoption, measure results, and spot follow-on workflows
- Convert bespoke client deliverables into reusable deployment patterns, evaluation suites, and connectors
Requirements
- Experience delivering automation, integrations, or software for enterprise clients
- Hands-on programming capability involving webhooks, APIs, authentication, data transformation, debugging, version control, and testing
- Experience constructing AI workflows while assessing reliability, quality, latency, cost, and failure management
- Ability to communicate effectively with business and technical stakeholders while managing expectations
- Availability to travel up to 40 percent of the time
Qualifications
- Familiarity with translation or localization technology and a curiosity for the domain
