Job Description
Scaleai is seeking a Public Sector Lead, Defence & Security based on-site in London. The organisation constructs artificial intelligence systems designed for critical decisions, partnering with frontier labs, enterprises, and governmental bodies to deliver operational applications powered by the Scale GenAI Platform. This position will direct commercial efforts across the UK national security community and the Ministry of Defence, including entities such as Defence Digital, UK Strategic Command, DE&S, and Dstl. The appointee will manage the revenue pipeline, personally drive sales cycles from initial discussions through contract execution, and progressively recruit and supervise a compact team. Reporting directly to the primary Public Sector leader, the incumbent will navigate complex procurement routes, security clearance protocols, and information-handling mandates. This opportunity is well-suited for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and possess extensive experience in technology sales or transformation initiatives tailored to UK defence.
Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial strategy and pipeline targeting UK defence and security accounts
- Identify, develop, and finalize sales agreements from the initial outreach phase through delivery
- Leverage existing professional contacts across the MOD, UK Strategic Command, Defence Digital, DE&S, Dstl, and intelligence agencies
- Evaluate and pursue effective defence procurement pathways while avoiding unproductive channels
- Engage high-ranking civil service and military authorities as a trusted representative to align operational needs with deliverable technology
- Handle accreditation, information security handling, and security clearance procedures
- Coordinate closely with product and delivery divisions to ensure alignment between sales pitches and technical capabilities
- Recruit and mentor a dedicated commercial team while contributing to the overarching UK public sector strategy
Requirements
- Prior professional background in selling and deploying technology or transformation projects for UK national security or defence entities
- Familiarity with at least one segment of the defence sector and its specific purchasing mechanisms
- Deep understanding of public sector and defence procurement rules, tenders, and multi-stakeholder purchasing
- Demonstrated ability to drive complex commercial pursuits and secure results
- Established network of contacts with senior figures within the defence industry
- Possession of, or eligibility to acquire, UK security clearance at SC level as a minimum, with DV preferred
- Comfort operating effectively amidst ambiguity and rapid change
Qualifications
- Background utilizing data-heavy platforms or artificial intelligence solutions
- Experience dealing with classified, regulated, or mission-critical government programs
- Past experience building or managing a small commercial team
