Job Description
TransPerfect is growing its pool of freelance linguists who render English content into Vietnamese for the life sciences field. Work can be done remotely from any location worldwide. Linguists translate and proofread client material and finalize it before release, operating under a manager's direction and in step with project managers.
Subject matter listed includes pharmacovigilance, clinical technical documents, patient-facing clinical text and clinical outcome assessments. Candidates need excellent written and oral Vietnamese, specialist life sciences knowledge, close attention to spelling and grammar, and composure when deadlines are tight.
Before any assignments, applicants sign a confidentiality agreement and take complimentary tests covering translation, machine translation post-editing (MTPE) and proofreading or quality control. The application includes a CV showing relevant experience in those areas plus the applicant's suggested per-word rates in USD. Only candidates who meet the criteria will be contacted.
To qualify, applicants must meet one of the following: education in translation or linguistics (or an equivalent program with significant translation training); two years of translation work plus a college degree; five years of translation work without a degree; or a government-issued translation competence certificate. The role is described as freelance.
Responsibilities
- Render client documents from English into Vietnamese for life sciences projects
- Proofread and finalize translations before they go to clients
- Work under a manager's direction alongside project managers
- Complete translation, MTPE and proofreading or QC tests during onboarding
Requirements
