Job Description
Cambridge Information Group Inc is hiring a Front-End Developer for Edconic, an experiential education organization that partners with prominent brands to operate specialized schools. Operating fully remotely within the United States, this full-time exempt position reports directly to the Director of Web Development and sits within the Global Enrollment Marketing and Sales department. The incoming professional will join a two-person web team to build, manage, and scale digital properties including micro-sites, landing pages, email templates, and public websites.
This role suits an independent developer with a strong eye for user experience who can collaborate seamlessly with designers, IT, and MarTech staff. The position offers significant autonomy, minimal bureaucratic overhead, and active code migration toward a standardized WordPress architecture. Daily tasks involve transforming visual designs into responsive web pages, developing custom WordPress themes across both legacy PHP templates and modern block-based setups, and establishing team coding practices. While the workflow incorporates AI coding assistance for routine tasks and research, candidates must possess deep foundational expertise and ownership over all production code.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain public websites, landing pages, and micro-sites alongside the lead developer, IT, and MarTech departments
- Partner with UX and UI designers to verify technical feasibility and turn designs into responsive, brand-aligned pages
- Develop and support custom WordPress themes utilizing modern block frameworks and classic PHP templates with Advanced Custom Fields and Sass
- Help define team coding standards, workflows, and tools while assisting with the migration of legacy sites to a modern stack
- Monitor emerging web standards and integrate applicable improvements into the development process
- Build and test HTML email templates
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of front-end web development experience
- Strong proficiency in semantic HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and WordPress
- Ability to construct custom WordPress themes from scratch using PHP templates and Advanced Custom Fields
- Solid skills in Sass, modern native CSS, and vanilla JavaScript
- Experience utilizing Git and GitHub for pull requests and code reviews
- Familiarity with npm-based build tools and the command line
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Ability to work fully remotely within the US with occasional travel to the New York office
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Communications, or a related field
- Experience with modern WordPress block development including ACF Blocks, block.json, theme.json, and block patterns
- Familiarity with Composer, Bedrock, Roots tooling, Sage or Blade, Trellis, Vite, or GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with accessibility testing, WCAG, and ARIA standards
- Background integrating CRM and marketing automation platforms like Salesforce and Pardot
- Experience managing multilingual WordPress websites
- Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React or Vue
- Experience in UX or UI design using tools like Figma or Adobe Creative Suite
