BH Properties is seeking a General Ledger Accountant to join their team in a remote capacity. Operating during standard US Pacific Time business hours, this professional will report directly to the General Ledger Manager.
BH Properties is a privately held commercial real estate investment firm that concentrates on value-add acquisitions involving office, industrial, retail, and multi-family real estate throughout the Western United States, in addition to distressed debt and ground lease investments. Managing a portfolio of approximately 10 million square feet across 18 states, the vertically integrated enterprise relies on its balance sheet to complete transactions rapidly.
The person in this role will handle property-specific accounting duties, execute monthly close procedures, manage annual and seasonal common area maintenance reconciliations, and create management reports. This position suits an organized professional who can manage multiple tasks independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Handle property-specific accounting functions such as bank reconciliations, funding oversight, mortgage disbursements, property tax tracking, business license tracking, reimbursement processing, general ledger examination, and loan postings
- Complete assigned duties associated with the monthly financial close
- Execute annual and seasonal common area maintenance reconciliations and address tenant questions regarding those reconciliations for designated properties
- Examine bank reconciliations prepared by other team members
- Establish new bank accounts and execute post-acquisition or post-disposition procedures
- Generate reports requested by accounting leadership
- Handle additional projects and responsibilities designated by accounting management
Requirements
- Hold an accounting degree
- Possess a CPA license
- Bring a minimum of five years of accounting experience
- Demonstrate strong organizational abilities, including prioritizing and multitasking
- Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Communicate effectively and professionally with internal personnel and external contacts
- Work independently with minimal oversight
- Operate effectively in a fast-paced setting
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and collaborate well with others
Qualifications
- Graduate from a university with cum laude or higher honors
- Background in broad-based real estate accounting
- Experience using Yardi
