Raphael & Associates, a global independent claims adjusting firm and third-party administrator, is hiring a remote General Liability Claims Adjuster for a full-time position. This role suits an experienced insurance professional who can independently handle complex, high-exposure claims involving litigation, severe bodily injury, catastrophic losses, and property damage. The person in this position will assess coverage, liability, and damages, collaborate with defense counsel, and manage files through resolution.
Responsibilities
- Investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex General Liability and Excess Liability claims involving catastrophic losses, litigated matters, and high-exposure bodily injury or property damage
- Analyze liability, coverage, damages, and exposure to build effective claim strategies
- Set, maintain, and adjust financial reserves according to company guidelines and best practices
- Oversee litigated claims alongside defense counsel, managing discovery, pleadings, mediation, trial preparation, and motion practice
- Examine expert reports, damage evaluations, and medical records to measure claim exposure
- Negotiate and settle claims within designated authority while offering recommendations for high-value files
- Keep claim files accurately documented, organized, and updated in a timely manner
- Interact with claimants, insureds, internal business partners, attorneys, and brokers
- Comply with service expectations, regulatory requirements, and company standards
Requirements
- 7 to 10 or more years of experience handling high-exposure and complex General Liability or Excess Liability claims
- Active Resident State Licensing or Active Non-Resident State Licensing alongside an active New York Adjuster license
- Proven experience overseeing litigated casualty claims from their inception through to final resolution
- Deep understanding of tort law, liability coverage, and best practices for claims handling
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Independent management of a complex caseload within a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and claims management systems
