Job Description
Trackonomy is seeking an experienced payroll professional to take charge of centralized reviews, reconciliations, and reporting for global payroll operations. Operating as a fast-growing Internet of Things enterprise, Trackonomy builds an operating system for connected objects used across logistics, utilities, healthcare, government, and industrial sectors. This part-time position does not involve processing payroll; instead, the person in this role acts as an independent review and reporting layer to ensure compensation accuracy, cost verification, and clear variance explanations across an organization of approximately 700 global employees.
This role is tailored for professionals who want detailed analysis and problem-solving work without committing to a full-time schedule. Responsibilities include reviewing payroll results, reconciling employee and compensation changes, investigating unusual variances, identifying errors or potential overpayments, and collaborating with internal teams, finance departments, and external providers to resolve discrepancies. Candidates will manage consolidated global reporting to give leadership a reliable view of expenses across multiple countries and entities.
Designed for flexibility, the position requires roughly 40 hours per month and is fully remote within the United States. While schedules are highly flexible, availability is necessary around established monthly payroll and financial reporting deadlines. Compensation ranges from $30 to $40 per hour, determined by skills and experience.
Responsibilities
- Maintain consolidated global payroll reporting for HR and finance departments
- Identify and investigate discrepancies including duplicate payments, post-termination payouts, and tax or contribution issues
- Document exceptions, quantify financial impacts, and coordinate corrections or recoveries
- Partner with HR, finance, local teams, and external providers to resolve payroll issues
- Explain payroll variances and employment-related costs to support financial decision-making
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll, payroll accounting, payroll audit, or payroll reconciliation
- Strong background in reviewing payroll registers and identifying discrepancies
- Understanding of gross-to-net payroll, employer taxes, statutory contributions, deductions, bonuses, and commissions
- Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets, including pivot tables, lookups, and variance analysis
- Ability to consolidate data from multiple systems, providers, and formats
Qualifications
- Experience reviewing payroll across multiple countries, legal entities, or payroll providers
- Familiarity with Professional Employer Organization and Employer of Record arrangements
- Experience reviewing payroll provider invoices and employment-related costs
- Knowledge of payroll accounting, accruals, and month-end close processes
- Background in developing or improving payroll controls and reconciliation workflows
